HEX ↔ String.
Decode byte sequences. Encode text. Copy the result or a code snippet.
01Input
HEX is formatted as uppercase byte pairs as you edit. Non-HEX characters are ignored; 0x prefixes are accepted.
02Settings
TEXT / BYTESStrict decoding is the default. Replacement characters change decoded text; byte downloads and code exports retain the input bytes.
Reading text and bytes
48 65 6C 6C 6F decodes to Hello. ASCII uses bytes 00–7F; Latin-1 maps all 00–FF bytes directly to characters.
UTF-8 and UTF-16 LE encode Unicode differently. For AЖ, UTF-8 is 41 D0 96; UTF-16 LE is 41 00 16 04.
Byte statistics count the encoded bytes. UTF-16’s zero bytes can appear as ASCII controls even when the decoded text is printable.
ASCII reference · regional tables
Look up a byte in its character set. Reference tabs are independent of the conversion encoding above. Marked rows occur in the input. Hover or focus a byte or result character to highlight its matches.
Control codes, printable characters, and DEL.
